AADLC ENDORSES CONGRESSMAN JOE HOEFFEL

Representative of Pennsylvania's 13h district wins backing of Armenian-Americans Voters

Falls Church, VA: The Armenian American Democratic Leadership Council (AADLC) made its voice heard in one of the nation's tighest House races by issuing an endorsement for Congressman Joe Hoeffel of Pennsylvania's 13th Congressional District. Since his election in November of 1998, Rep. Hoeffel has been an active supporter of the issues important to his Armenian-American constituents, who live in a Congressional District that stretches northwest of Philadelphia.

The area in and around Pennsylvania's 13th District is home to five Armenian churches, dozens of Armenian organizations, and a large and prosperous Armenian-American community. A copy of the AADLC's endorsement of Rep. Hoeffel will be sent to all Armenian organizations in Pennsylvania's 13th District.

"Since his election in 1998, Rep. Hoeffel has been there for the Armenian-American community," emphasized the AADLC Outreach Coordinator, Raffi Asatoorian. Name the issue and he has stood by our community - whether it is his cosponsorship of the Armenian Genocide Resolution, his backing of U.S. aid for Armenia and Nagorno-Karabagh, or his outreach efforts in attending Armenian events in his District - Rep. Hoeffel has been there for Armenian-American voters when it counts," he added.

In the 106th Congress, Congressman Hoeffel has been a prominent supporter of H.Res. 398, the Armenian Genocide Resolution. In addition, Congressman Hoeffel co-authored a letter to the Chairman of the House Appropriations' Foreign Operations Committee, urging that U.S. aid to Armenia and Nagorno-Karabagh be increased. Congressman Hoeffel is a proud member of the Congressional Armenian Caucus and has consistently supported the concerns of his Armenian American constituents.

The AADLC works with the Democratic National Committee to foster support within the Armenian American community for the Democratic Party and national Democratic office holders, while promoting the election of Armenian American Democrats to political office and encouraging participation by Armenian American Democrats at all levels of the public policy process.
