AADLC ENDORSES CONGRESSMAN CAL DOOLEY
Representative of California's 20th District has been a Solid Supporter of Armenian Issues

Falls Church, VA: The Armenian American Democratic Leadership Council (AADLC) today issued an endorsement for Congressman Cal Dooley, who is currently seeking reelection to a sixth term representing California's 20th Congressional District. Since his election to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1990, Dooley has been an ardent supporter of issues important to his Armenian-American constituents who live in a Congressional District that stretches across the lower San Joaquin Valley, from Fresno to Bakersfield.
In addition to being home to seven Armenian Churches and the Armenian Day School of Fresno, Armenian-American have long called San Joaquin Valley home. "Cal Dooley has earned the vote of every Armenian-American voter in his 20th District," said AADLC Outreach Coordinator Raffi Asatoorian. "A vote for Cal Dooley on November 7th is a vote for stronger U.S. ties with Armenia and a vote for somebody committed to securing justice for the martyrs and victims of the Armenian Genocide," he added.
In the 106th Congress, Rep. Dooley has been a prominent supporter of H.Res. 398, the Armenian Genocide Resolution. In remarks he made on the House floor this past April 12, 2000, Rep. Dooley remarked, "It would be an even greater tragedy to forget that the Armenian Genocide ever happened. To not recognize the horror of such events almost assures their repetition in the future. Our statements today are intended to preserve the memory of the Armenian loss, and to remind the world that the Turkish government - to this day - refuses to acknowledge the Armenian Genocide. The truth of this tragedy can never and should never be denied."
Congressman Dooley is a proud member of the Congressional Armenian Caucus and has consistently supported the concerns of his Armenian-American constituents and worked to increase aid to Armenia and Nagorno-Karabagh. In the 105th Congress, Dooley voted to protect Section 907 of the Freedom Support Act, a vote which successfully kept U.S. taxpayer dollars from flowing to the corrupt government of oil-rich Azerbaijan.
The AADLC works with the Democratic National Committee to foster support within the Armenian American community for the Democratic Party and national Democratic office holders, while promoting the election of Armenian American Democrats to political office and encouraging participation by Armenian American Democrats at all levels of the public policy process.
